EXCUSES, EXCUSES … #4

But… but… but God!

I’m not capable. I’m not knowledgeable. I’m short on charisma. And I studder!

“Please, Lord, I have never been eloquent—either in the past or recently or since you have been speaking to your servant—because my mouth and my tongue are sluggish” (Exodus 4:10).

Here’s the New Living Translation… “I’m not very good with words. I never have been, and I’m not now, even though you have spoken to me. I get tongue-tied, and my words get tangled” (Exodus 4:10, NLT).

And the Contemporary English Version… “I have never been a good speaker. I wasn’t one before you spoke to me, and I’m not one now. I am slow at speaking, and I can never think of what to say” (Exodus 4:10, CEV).

Excuses! Excuses!

When we faithfully obey God, He always provides the resources that we need to accomplish the task. When God calls, God equips.

“Isn’t Aaron the Levite your brother? I know that he can speak well. And also, he is on his way now to meet you. He will rejoice when he sees you. You will speak with him and tell him what to say. I will help both you and him to speak and will teach you both what to do. He will speak to the people for you. He will serve as a mouth for you, and you will serve as God to him” (Exodus 4:14–16).

This was a double blessing! God was answering the problem of Moses’ inability, and He was sending Aaron to meet him in the desert! He hadn’t seen his older brother in more than forty years! What a blessing! What a prize! “Thank you, Lord!”

You may have a disability, a deficiency, a weakness. You may think that your excuse is legitimate, but I will guarantee you… if God calls, God will equip!

God will provide a way, even when there seems to be no way!

“… think on these things” (Philippians 4:8, KJV).
