SPIRIT OF TRUTH

When’s the last time you read the Old Testament books of Ezekiel or Isaiah? How about the New Testament’s Book of Romans or Revelation? Did you understand what you were reading? I don’t care how many commentaries you have on your shelves; you can’t really understand the Bible unless you have supernatural assistance!

Lucky for us, Jesus gave us the key that unlocks the treasures of truth! Not what, but Who is this key? The Spirit of Truth!

Jesus promised, “I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever. He is the Spirit of truth … He remains with you and will be in you” (John 14:16–17). Jesus continued, “when the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth” (John 16:13).

“The Spirit of the Living God” (2 Corinthians 3:3), “the Spirit of your Father” (Matthew 10:20),

“the Spirit of Jesus Christ” (Philippians 1:19), “the Spirit of Wisdom and Understanding” (Isaiah 11:2), “the Spirit of Knowledge” (Isaiah 11:2), resides within every true believer, guiding, leading, and teaching.

Try this. The next time you open your Bible, before you read the first words, start with prayer. “Lord God, Spirit of Truth, open my eyes to see your beauty and your bounty. Teach me the truth!”

“… think on these things” (Philippians 4:8, KJV).
