The Gospel
God created all things by His spoken word. He created humans in His image and gave them a perfect home where they could know and worship Him.
Genesis 1-2, Isaiah 45:12
The first humans sinned. They disobeyed God, rejecting Him and His perfect way. Their sin has spread to all humans and causes separation from God. The penalty for sin is death.
Genesis 3, Romans 3:23, Psalm 51:5
God sent His divine Son, Jesus, to earth as a human to die as a substitute for sinful humanity on a cross. Three days after His death, Jesus came back to life, defeating sin and death forever! He returned to heaven and reigns over all things.
John 3:16, Romans 5:8, I Corinthians 15:3-6, Ephesians 2:1-9
All who repent of sins and believe in Jesus are saved from sin and death and given new and eternal life with God through the Holy Spirit. Those who have new life also eagerly join Jesus’ mission of telling the Gospel to others.
II Corinthians 5:17, Romans 8:1, Matthew 28:18-20
Gospel means "good news," and SGBC exists to proclaim the good news of Jesus! What is the Gospel of Jesus? It is the simple message that "while we were still sinners, Jesus died for us" (Romans 5:8). The Gospel story can be told in four chapters as shown below.
